At Farm Bureau, we are passionate about growing – and not just on the farm! Students go back to school each fall ready to continue their academic journey. As adults, we don’t get the hype of all the new things that come with a new school year – like new notebooks, new shoes and new teachers – but our learning opportunities are just as exciting!
We know that employees stay at companies that allow them to learn new skills and move forward in their careers. That’s why we have a wide range of classes and learning opportunities (plus a Talent Development team) to help you go as far as your ambition will take you.
Professional Growth Opportunities
We know that there’s not one best-way to grow – that’s why we have so many options available for employees as they continue their journey of lifelong learning.
Mentoring is a critical part of the Farm Bureau Financial Services’ culture. Mentors and mentees can gain valuable insight from one another and build lasting connections that will continue to enhance their work-life and will help build bridges in the company.
There are a variety of growth groups that employees can participate in. For example, Farm Bureau has its own branch of Toastmasters to help employees enhance their public speaking skills.
Farm Bureau also provides a library of resources so that no matter how you want to grow, you can learn from leaders in that area. Want to use your time more effectively? Be a better manager? Learn how to create a culture of ideation? The library is a great place to start.
Online training opportunities are vast and on-demand. From guides that can help you master technological programs the company uses to the “Competency of the Month” aimed at helping you cultivate a growth-centered mindset, these videos cover so much.
Farm Bureau also provides support for those who pursue professional designation and education. For example, financial support may be available if you’re working toward an industry qualification or an approved business degree. You may also receive a reward for achieving new educational and licensing heights.
We believe strongly that the best leadership comes from within, which is why we have multiple leadership development programs designed to expand leadership skills with potential for roles with greater responsibility and scope.
Personal Growth Opportunities
While we are passionate about our employees’ development here in the workplace, we understand that working at Farm Bureau is just one facet of our employees’ lives. That’s why we offer opportunities for our employees to pursue other avenues of growth.
For example, our on-site health and wellness team provides guidance as our employees work to improve multiple aspects of the wellness wheel (such as physical, social, emotional and intellectual health). This guidance is shared through classes, book suggestions, tips/tricks, workout videos, inspirational support, recipes and challenges. For example, this month we are starting an 8-week financial health challenge focused on helping employees evaluate if their budgets are working for them – and how to fix them if they’re not.
Learning is also closely associated with doing – so we provide many opportunities for our employees to get out and take action. For example, they can learn about gardening by volunteering in the Giving Garden or brushing up on their sewing to participate in Quilts of Valor. With a day of paid Volunteer Time Off each year, employees can assist an organization that they care about (and perhaps learn a thing or two on the way)!
