Des Moines, Iowa (May 29, 2020) – United Way of Central Iowa presented Farm Bureau Financial Services with the large company “Game-Changer” award on May 29 for their dedication, innovation, and success in total dollars raised during the 2019 United Way campaign.
“United Way of Central Iowa is a crucial non-profit organization leading the fight for the health, education and financial stability of every central Iowan, and we are committed to supporting the great work they do,” said Dan Pitcher, Chief Executive Officer. “Through volunteerism and financial donations, our employees step up year after year. In 2019 everyone came together and made a big difference in our community by surpassing our goal and raising $901,983.”
The Farm Bureau 2019 United Way campaign was titled “Drive Change” and involved race car themed events and communications. Throughout the campaign, Farm Bureau employees:
- Collected 825 books for Stuff the Bus
- Constructed 63 literacy kits during the Literacy Solstice
- Grew and donated 2,173 pounds of produce from their Giving Garden
- Assembled and donated 357 personal care kits to Bidwell Riverside
- LINC members packed 960 sacks for the Food Bank of Iowa Backpack Program
- Delivered 193 breakfast casseroles to the Salvation Army
- Volunteered 380 hours during Day of Action
